Summary: The moment we heard the phrase "let's experiment with black hole-based science", we had every right to duck and cover. Now we're dealing with one of the most powerful entities in the galaxy...and the beast it produced.
History: St. Louis, Missouri is in for a nasty surprise when a particle accelerator experiment goes awry. Not only does it open up an increasingly huge black hole, but said black hole opens up a portal for a strange creature. This being is made of pure energy, and it will get more energy by any means, no matter who has to die first...
Notable Kills: Nothing special.
Final Fate: After being lured with a moving generator, the entity finds itself going back into the black hole, causing it to collapse on itself and disappear in an explosive burst of energy. The threat is gone.
Powers/Abilities: This monster is essentially walking electricity. Any contact with it will sent billions of volts at you. Also, it can siphon energy from wherever there may be some, and is virtually indestructible.
Weakness: Only by being lured back into the black hole can it be banished.
Scariness Factor: 3-The CGI is monstrously bad, even by our standards. But electricity isn't the hardest to animate, so we'll let it slide a bit. As for the beast in general, it's a whopper, being unkillable as well as dangerous to the touch and looking like an electric alien skeleton.
Trivia: -To give you a perfectly good idea of how awful getting sucked into a black hole is, imagine being ripped apart atom by atom, and time manages to slow down in the process, therefore drawing out the sheer pain you’re feeling as you're broken down into nothingness. This is a process known professionally as spaghettification, mainly due to how it stretches things out like noodles.
-The lab seen in the film is actually the Planetarium of the St Louis Science Center. It is one of the town's most iconic areas to visit.
